WELCOME | Department of Medical Chemistry

With a history going back to 100 years, the Department of Medical Chemistry is one of the oldest departments of the University.

Our primary task is to give introductory Chemistry classes (general, organic, bioorganic and bioinorganic chemistry) and Molecular Biology class for students of the Faculties of General Medicine and Dentistry but also for other faculties.

Equally important for us is to pursue research and show excellence in the fields of molecular and cell biology. Our research themes include cellular signal transduction (emphasis on protein phosphatases), oxidative stress and DNA damage signaling, cell death and differentiation (focus on mesenchymal stem cells).
